Wholesale usp pg vg manufacturers

For pharmaceutical, food, or electronic cigarette applications, you must ensure the products meet USP (United States Pharmacopeia) or EP (European Pharmacopoeia) standards. The purity level should be ≥99.7%. Always request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch to verify levels of heavy metals, arsenic, and chloride. For VG, specifically confirm it is 99.7% Food Grade and derived from non-GMO vegetable sources (typically palm or soy).

The ratio depends on the end-product: PG (Propylene Glycol) is a superior flavor carrier and provides a 'throat hit' in e-liquids, while VG (Vegetable Glycerin) is responsible for vapor density and sweetness. In the food industry, PG acts as a humectant and solvent, whereas VG is used as a thickener. Ensure the supplier can provide custom blending services if your manufacturing process requires specific pre-mixed ratios to reduce local processing costs.

Suppliers must provide a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) or Safety Data Sheet (SDS) compliant with GHS standards. For food-grade applications, look for ISO 22000 or HACCP certifications. If you are exporting to the EU, verify REACH registration. For US markets, ensure the facility is FDA registered. These documents are essential for both customs clearance and liability protection.

Both liquids are hygroscopic, meaning they absorb moisture from the air. They should be stored in airtight HDPE drums or stainless steel tanks in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. The typical shelf life is 12 to 24 months. When sourcing wholesale, inquire about the manufacturing date to ensure you receive fresh stock, as degraded VG can develop a yellowish tint or fermented odor.

Utilize Trade Assurance services on platforms like Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until delivery is confirmed. For first-time large orders, hire a third-party inspector (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a 'Loading Inspection' to verify that the liquid in the drums matches the COA and that the seals are intact before the container leaves the factory.

While PG and VG are generally classified as non-hazardous for transport, they are liquids, which requires specialized packaging (UN-approved drums or IBC tanks). Ensure the supplier uses palletized shipping to prevent drum puncture during transit. For high-volume buyers, Flexitanks are the most cost-effective method for 20ft containers, but you must verify the liner quality to prevent leakage.

Chemical prices fluctuate with raw material costs (like palm oil for VG). Negotiate based on tiered volume pricing; for example, a 20ft FCL (Full Container Load) should yield a 10-15% discount over LCL (Less than Container Load). Request CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) terms if you want the supplier to handle the complexities of maritime insurance, which is highly recommended for liquid cargo.

The most common delay is incorrect HS Code classification. Ensure the commercial invoice clearly states the correct code (typically 29053200 for Propylene Glycol and 15200000 for Glycerol). Failure to provide a matching MSDS in the destination country's language can lead to port seizures. Always confirm with your local customs broker that the labeling meets local language and safety requirements.
