Whisky glass bottles manufacturers

For premium whisky, Super Flint Glass is the industry standard due to its high transparency and brilliance, which enhances the liquid's color. Ensure the glass is lead-free to prevent chemical leaching during long-term storage. Additionally, check for uniform wall thickness to ensure structural integrity and a heavy base (thick bottom) for a premium hand-feel and stability.

Since these are food-contact materials, they must meet FDA (U.S.) or EC 1935/2004 (EU) regulations. Specifically, look for SGS or Intertek lab reports confirming that lead and cadmium migration levels are within safe limits. For the spirits industry, ensuring the glass can withstand internal pressure and thermal shock (ASTM standards) is also vital for safety during the bottling process.

The seal is critical for preventing oxidation. Verify that the bottle neck finish (e.g., GPI or Ropp standards) matches your chosen closure. If using corks, ensure they are Grade A natural cork or high-quality synthetic T-corks to avoid 'cork taint.' Request a vacuum leak test report from the supplier to confirm the seal remains airtight under different atmospheric pressures.

Common techniques include screen printing, frosting, hot stamping (gold/silver foil), and decal application. For high-end brands, embossing or debossing the logo directly into the glass mold provides a permanent, premium look. Ensure the supplier uses organic, eco-friendly inks that are resistant to alcohol spills and abrasion.

Glass is fragile, so packaging is the most critical factor. Insist on 5-layer corrugated export cartons with individual cell dividers. For bulk shipments, specify fumigated pallets with plastic wrap and corner protectors. It is highly recommended to hire a third-party inspection service to perform a drop test before the balance payment is made.

Start by requesting a custom sample to verify clarity and weight. When negotiating, discuss mold costs (tooling fees); many suppliers will refund the mold fee once your cumulative order reaches a certain volume (e.g., 30,000+ units). Always clarify the Defect Rate Allowance—standard industry terms usually allow for a 2-3% breakage/defect rate; anything above this should be covered by the supplier.

Utilize the Secured Trading services provided by Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until shipping documents are verified. To ensure consistency, request a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) to check for common defects like bubbles, stones (impurities), or mold seams. Ensure the contract specifies that the mass production must match the approved golden sample.

Due to the high weight and volume, Sea Freight (FCL - Full Container Load) is the only economically viable option for large orders. A 20GP container typically holds about 10,000–15,000 standard 750ml bottles depending on packaging. If you are a startup, look for suppliers offering LCL (Less than Container Load), but be aware that handling risks increase with multiple transfers.
