For premium spirits, Extra Flint Glass (Super Flint) is the industry standard due to its high clarity and brilliance, which enhances the visual appeal of the liquid. For mid-range products, High Flint Glass offers a balance of cost and quality. Ensure the glass is lead-free and meets food-grade safety standards to prevent chemical leaching into high-alcohol content beverages.

You must verify the neck finish specifications (e.g., GPI or Ropp standards) to ensure a perfect seal with your closures. Provide your supplier with CAD drawings to confirm the bottle height, diameter, and center of gravity, which are critical for automated conveyor stability and filling nozzle alignment.

Common techniques include acid etching (frosting), silk-screen printing, hot stamping (gold/silver foil), and electroplating. For complex logos, decal application is preferred. If you require a unique shape, you will need to invest in a custom mold, which typically involves a one-time tooling fee and a higher Initial Order Quantity (MOQ).

Bottles must comply with FDA (USA) or EC 1935/2004 (EU) regulations for food contact materials. Additionally, check for heavy metal content limits (Lead, Cadmium, Mercury) under TPCH (Toxics in Packaging Clearinghouse) guidelines. Always request a Declaration of Compliance (DoC) and SGS/TUV test reports from the supplier.

Glass is fragile, so you should mandate seaworthy packaging. This includes corrugated dividers (cells) within cartons, palletization with shrink wrap, and corner protectors. For high-value orders, request double-wall cartons and ensure the supplier uses fumigated wooden pallets to comply with international shipping laws.

Focus on volume-based pricing tiers. Glass production is energy-intensive; therefore, larger production runs significantly lower the unit cost. Negotiate for free samples (you pay shipping) to verify quality before placing a bulk order. If you are a repeat buyer, negotiate staggered payment terms (e.g., 30% deposit, 70% against B/L) to improve your cash flow.

Define an Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) in your contract, specifically for defects like bubbles, stones, or uneven glass distribution. Use a third-party inspection service (like V-Trust or QIMA) to audit the goods at the factory before the final payment. Ensure the contract includes a replacement clause for any breakage exceeding a 2-3% standard allowance.

Liquor bottles are heavy and low-value per ton, making Sea Freight (FCL - Full Container Load) the most economical method. When calculating costs, factor in Anti-Dumping Duties that some regions (like the EU or USA) may impose on specific Chinese glassware categories. Always verify the HS Code (typically 7010.90) with your customs broker to determine accurate tariff rates.
