Stone gabion cage wall manufacturers

Selecting the correct wire material is critical for the lifespan of the structure. For standard landscaping, Hot-Dipped Galvanized wire is the most common choice. However, for high-salinity coastal areas or riverbeds, you must specify Galfan coating (95% Zinc + 5% Aluminum) or PVC-coated wire, which can extend the service life to over 50 years by providing superior corrosion resistance.

Buyers should focus on three main metrics: Wire Diameter (typically 2.0mm to 4.0mm), Mesh Size (e.g., 60x80mm or 80x100mm), and Tensile Strength. Ensure the wire has a tensile strength of at least 350-550 N/mm² to prevent the cage from bulging or bursting under the pressure of the stone infill. For heavy-duty retaining walls, Welded Gabions offer better shape retention than Woven Hexagonal Mesh.

To ensure structural safety, prioritize suppliers whose products meet ASTM A975 (Standard Specification for Double-Twisted Hexagonal Mesh Gabions) or EN 10223-3 standards. If you are sourcing for government or infrastructure projects, request ISO 9001 certification and a Mill Test Certificate (MTC) to verify the chemical composition of the steel.

To reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), purchase gabions in flat-packed (collapsed) form to minimize shipping volume and freight costs. Additionally, consider the diaphragm design; cages with internal diaphragms every 1 meter provide better stability and can reduce the need for expensive high-grade stone infill in the center of the structure.

The biggest risk is under-galvanization, where the zinc coating thickness is less than specified, leading to premature rusting. To mitigate this, use Made-in-China.com's inspection services or hire a third-party auditor to perform a zinc coating weight test (measured in g/m²) before the balance payment is made.

Always request a production sample of the mesh and the connection wire (C-rings or spiral binders). Negotiate for tiered pricing based on weight rather than just pieces, as the weight of the steel is the primary cost driver. For large-scale projects, ask the supplier to provide installation accessories (stiffeners and lacing wire) as part of the bulk package to avoid local sourcing delays.

Gabion cages are heavy and dense. Ensure the supplier uses fumigated wooden pallets and high-strength steel strapping to prevent shifting during sea transit. For shipping to landlocked regions or specific project sites, clarify the Incoterms; DAP (Delivered at Place) is often preferred for large construction sites to ensure the supplier handles the complex final-mile delivery of heavy loads.

Utilize Secured Trading Services on professional platforms like Made-in-China.com to protect your deposit. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts. Ensure the Proforma Invoice (PI) explicitly states the wire gauge tolerance (usually ±0.05mm) and the minimum zinc coating mass to provide legal recourse in case of quality disputes.
