Soft lens manufacturers

When evaluating soft lenses, you must prioritize Water Content and Oxygen Permeability (Dk/t value). High water content (50%+) offers initial comfort, while high Dk/t values (especially in Silicone Hydrogel materials) are essential for long-term corneal health. Additionally, verify the Base Curve (BC) and Diameter (DIA) options to ensure the supplier can meet diverse physiological fitting requirements for your target market.

Soft lenses are classified as Class II or Class III medical devices. You must ensure the manufacturer holds ISO 13485 certification for medical device quality management. For the US market, FDA 510(k) clearance is mandatory; for the EU, CE Marking (under MDR 2017/745) is required. Sourcing from suppliers on Made-in-China.com that provide audited Declaration of Conformity (DoC) and sterilization certificates is critical for legal importation.

Request a Sterilization Validation Report and a Biocompatibility Test Report (ISO 10993). Professional B2B buyers should ask for clinical evaluation reports and check if the supplier uses automated cast-molding technology, which ensures edge smoothness and parameter consistency compared to older lathe-cutting methods. Batch-to-batch consistency is the hallmark of a high-quality manufacturer.

Labels must be in the official language of the destination country and include the expiry date, batch number, sterilization method, and storage conditions. The primary packaging (blister packs) must maintain sterile integrity for at least 3-5 years. Ensure the supplier provides UDI (Unique Device Identification) codes if you are exporting to markets like the USA or EU to facilitate traceability.

The biggest risks are regulatory seizure at customs due to lack of medical registration and product contamination. To mitigate this, always use Trade Terms that clarify responsibility (like DAP or DDP) and verify the supplier's export license specifically for medical devices. Avoid unbranded 'white label' goods that lack traceable manufacturing origins.

For OEM/Private Label orders, MOQs usually range from 500 to 1,000 boxes per SKU. Negotiate for staggered delivery to ensure you are always selling 'fresh' stock with long expiry dates. On Made-in-China.com, look for 'Diamond Members' who offer sample kits; testing the physical comfort and packaging durability before a bulk commitment is a non-negotiable step for professional buyers.

Soft lenses are sensitive to extreme temperature fluctuations. While air freight is standard for speed, ensure the logistics provider avoids prolonged exposure to freezing or high-heat environments. For large sea freight shipments, temperature-controlled containers (Reefers) are recommended to prevent the saline solution from degrading or the blister seals from failing.

Utilize secured payment services provided by reputable B2B platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. Additionally, hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) to verify the quantity, expiry dates, and packaging integrity before the balance payment is made.
