Router enclosure manufacturers

For indoor routers, ABS or Polycarbonate (PC) plastics are preferred due to their low signal interference (RF transparency) and cost-effectiveness. For outdoor or industrial routers, Aluminum Alloy (Die-casting) or Stainless Steel is essential to provide EMI/RFI shielding and physical protection. If using metal, ensure there are dedicated cutouts or external antenna ports, as metal blocks wireless signals.

Outdoor enclosures must meet at least IP65 or IP67 ratings to ensure they are dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets or temporary immersion. Additionally, check for IK10 impact resistance to prevent vandalism and UL 746C f1 weatherability to ensure the plastic does not degrade or crack under prolonged UV exposure.

High-performance routers generate significant heat. You should prioritize designs with integrated heat sinks, ventilation louvers, or internal mounting bosses that allow for airflow. For sealed waterproof units, look for breathable valve plugs (vent glands) that equalize pressure and prevent internal condensation without compromising the IP rating.

Ensure the enclosure materials comply with RoHS and REACH standards for chemical safety. For the North American market, UL 94-V0 flammability rating is often a critical requirement for electronic housings to ensure the product is self-extinguishing in case of an electrical fire.

Prioritize 'Audited Suppliers' who have undergone on-site inspections by third-party agencies like SGS or TÜV Rheinland. Review their Audit Reports specifically for their 'Production Capacity' and 'Quality Control' sections to ensure they have the machinery (e.g., CNC or Injection Molding) to meet your tolerances.

The primary risk is component misalignment. Always request a STEP or DWG file from the supplier to overlay with your PCB layout. If customization is needed (like hole drilling), it is more cost-effective to have the supplier perform CNC machining before shipping rather than doing it locally, as they have the jigs ready.

Focus the negotiation on mold ownership and lifespan. For large orders, negotiate for a mold fee refund once a certain quantity (e.g., 10,000 units) is reached. Ensure the contract specifies that the intellectual property (IP) of the mold belongs to you to prevent the supplier from selling your custom design to competitors.

Enclosures often have high volumetric weight. To reduce costs, ask the supplier to use nested packaging if the design allows, or ship via Sea Freight (LCL) for bulk orders. For samples, use International Express but ensure they are packed with anti-static foam to prevent scratches on polished surfaces.

Use the Secured Trading Service provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure your payment is only released to the supplier after you confirm receipt and quality. For large custom batches, implement a 30% deposit / 70% balance structure, with the balance paid only after a Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI).
