Pomegranate juice manufacturers

When evaluating quality, prioritize Brix level (typically 12-16% for NFC and 65% for concentrate), pH levels (3.0-3.4), and anthocyanin content, which determines the vibrant red color. Ensure the juice is 100% pure with no added sugars, artificial colors, or preservatives. For premium markets, Not From Concentrate (NFC) is preferred over reconstituted juice due to its superior flavor profile and nutrient retention.

Suppliers must hold globally recognized food safety certifications such as HACCP, ISO 22000, or FSSC 22000. If exporting to the US, FDA registration and FSMA compliance are required. For the EU, adherence to EFSA regulations and REACH (for packaging) is essential. Additionally, Organic (USDA or EU Organic), Kosher, and Halal certifications can significantly expand your target market reach.

The extraction method directly impacts the taste and tannin levels. Look for suppliers using cold-press technology or membrane filtration, which prevents the bitter oils from the peel and pith from entering the juice. Aseptic cold-filling is the gold standard for maintaining the juice's bioactive compounds and extending shelf life without high-heat pasteurization that can degrade vitamin C.

For bulk B2B orders, juice is typically transported in aseptic bags within steel drums (200L) or IBC totes (1000L). For retail-ready products, ensure the use of UV-protective glass bottles or multi-layer aseptic cartons (Tetra Pak) to prevent oxidation. All packaging must be BPA-free and food-grade certified to ensure chemical safety during transit.

Always specify the use of Reefer Containers (refrigerated containers) maintained at 0-4°C for NFC juice to prevent fermentation. For concentrates, stable cool storage is sufficient. It is highly recommended to install temperature data loggers inside the container to monitor fluctuations throughout the voyage, providing evidence for insurance claims if the cold chain is broken.

Start by requesting a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for the current harvest batch. Negotiate pricing based on seasonal harvest cycles, as prices are often lower during peak picking seasons (September to December). Request a pre-shipment sample from the actual production lot and use Trade Assurance or secure payment terms to protect your capital until the third-party inspection (like SGS) confirms the quality.

Check the HS Code (typically 2009.81) for Pomegranate Juice in your country to determine specific tariff rates. Be aware of Anti-Dumping duties or specific Phytosanitary certificate requirements. Ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Origin to take advantage of any Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) that may reduce or exempt import duties.
