You should prioritize Crystal Super Soft Velvet or Short Plush fabrics for the exterior to ensure a premium tactile feel. For the filling, 100% Grade A PP Cotton is essential to maintain shape and prevent clumping after shipping. Ensure the fabric weight is at least 280gsm to avoid transparency or tearing at the seams.

Even for novelty items, compliance is critical. For the US market, products must pass ASTM F963 and CPSIA testing for lead and phthalates. For the EU, EN71 Parts 1, 2, and 3 certification is mandatory to ensure the product is free from toxic dyes and mechanical hazards. Always request a Children's Product Certificate (CPC) or CE Declaration of Conformity from the supplier.

Request double-stitched seams to prevent bursting, especially if the item is intended as a gag gift or stress reliever. You should also verify colorfastness (Grade 4 or higher) to ensure the dyes do not transfer to skin or clothing. Conduct a pull test on any attached accessories or embroidery to ensure they are securely fastened.

Most professional manufacturers on Made-in-China.com offer OEM/ODM services, including custom embroidery logos, private labeling (woven tags), and bespoke packaging. For novelty items, you can often request custom sizes (from 10cm to 200cm) and specific color pantones to align with your brand identity.

To avoid unnecessary delays or seizures, ensure the product is declared under the correct HS Code (typically 9503.00 for plush toys). Use discreet outer packaging (plain brown corrugated boxes) and ensure the commercial invoice describes the items accurately but professionally, such as 'Plush Novelty Pillow' or 'Polyester Stuffed Toy'.

Focus on tiered pricing; ask for quotes at 500, 1,000, and 5,000 units to understand the manufacturer's margin. Request a pre-production sample (PPS) before committing to a bulk order. Negotiate a 30/70 payment term (30% deposit, 70% balance after passing a third-party inspection but before shipment) to minimize financial risk.

Plush toys are high-volume, low-weight goods. You should require the supplier to use vacuum compression packaging. This can reduce the shipping volume by up to 50-70%, significantly lowering Sea Freight or Air Freight costs. Ensure the supplier uses high-quality vacuum bags that won't leak during transit.

Always conduct transactions through Secured Trading Services provided by Made-in-China.com. Verify if the supplier is an 'Audited Supplier' with a verified floor space and production capacity. Never wire full payments to private bank accounts; always use the official corporate account listed on the platform.
