The biggest risks involve structural mismatch and shipping damage. To mitigate these, require the supplier to provide GA (General Arrangement) drawings for approval before production. Ensure the crane is packed in seaworthy wooden crates or secured with steel wire ropes in the container to prevent shifting. For large spans, the main girder may be cut for shipping; verify that the bolted or welded connection design meets safety codes.
