For premium durability and aesthetics, prioritize Full-Grain Leather or Top-Grain Leather, as they offer the best longevity and develop a patina over time. For functional or sporty styles, look for High-Density Nylon (1680D or higher) or Water-Resistant Canvas. Ensure the lining is made of Polyester or Microfiber to prevent internal tearing.

Focus on YKK Zippers or high-quality Zinc Alloy hardware with electroplating to prevent rust and peeling. The stitching should be Reinforced (Double-Stitched) at stress points like strap attachments. For tech-focused bags, ensure there is a Padded Compartment with high-density EPE foam to protect tablets or smartphones.

For the US market, products must comply with CPSIA regarding lead content in zippers and buckles. For the EU, ensure the leather tanning process meets REACH regulations, specifically regarding Chromium VI levels and Azo dyes. If the bag includes a power bank or USB port, it must pass CE or FCC certification.

Verify that the Shoulder Straps are Adjustable and Detachable with a minimum width of 3.8cm to distribute weight effectively. Check for RFID-Blocking pockets to add value for travel-conscious consumers. Request a Load-Bearing Test Report to ensure the bag can handle at least 5-10kg without structural failure.

Always request a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) by a third-party agency. Use platforms like Made-in-China.com to identify Audited Suppliers who have undergone onsite factory verifications. Never skip the Sample Approval stage; ensure the mass production matches the 'Golden Sample' in terms of leather texture and hardware weight.

Negotiate based on Material Yield; if you use a standard color (Black/Brown), you can often push for a Lower MOQ (e.g., 100-200 units). For larger orders, aim for a 10-15% volume discount by committing to a yearly forecast rather than a one-off purchase. Ask for Tiered Pricing to understand the cost breaks at 500, 1000, and 5000 units.

Leather is highly sensitive to humidity. Ensure the supplier uses Silica Gel Desiccants in every bag and wraps them in Non-Woven Dust Bags followed by polybags. For sea freight, request Palletization to prevent crushing. Ensure the HS Code (typically 4202) is correctly declared to avoid customs delays and ensure accurate duty calculation.

Utilize Secured Payment Terms such as Letters of Credit (L/C) for large volumes or Escrow-based payment services provided by reputable B2B platforms. Avoid direct wire transfers to private bank accounts. Ensure the Proforma Invoice (PI) clearly states the Defect Rate Allowance (usually 1-2%) and the specific compensation terms for sub-standard goods.
