Hydroxyapatite powder manufacturers

Buyers must prioritize purity levels (typically ≥99%) and particle size distribution. For biomedical implants, a crystalline structure similar to human bone is essential. For dentifrice (toothpaste) applications, a nanoparticle size (20-60nm) is often preferred for effective enamel remineralization, while food-grade HAp must strictly adhere to heavy metal limits (Lead <1ppm, Arsenic <1ppm).

Depending on the end-use, suppliers should provide ISO 13485 for medical devices or GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) for cosmetic and food grades. Ensure the product has a valid COA (Certificate of Analysis) and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet). For entry into the US market, FDA registration is crucial, while the EU market requires REACH compliance.

The stoichiometric Calcium-to-Phosphorus (Ca/P) ratio of pure Hydroxyapatite is 1.67. Deviations from this ratio can alter the solubility and thermal stability of the powder. B2B buyers should request XRD (X-ray Diffraction) and FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) reports to verify the phase purity and ensure no tricalcium phosphate (TCP) impurities are present.

It is widely used in orthopedic coatings to promote osseointegration, in dental care products for sensitivity relief, and as a chromatography medium in biotechnology. Additionally, it serves as a calcium supplement in the food industry and a biocompatible filler in plastic surgery (dermal fillers).

The main risks include moisture contamination during sea freight and customs delays due to misclassification. Ensure the supplier uses vacuum-sealed, moisture-proof double-layer packaging. Always verify the HS Code (typically 283539) with your local customs broker to avoid incorrect duty applications or seizures.

Focus on tiered pricing based on purity and mesh size. Request a pre-shipment sample (50g-100g) for lab testing before committing to a bulk order. Negotiate milestone payments (e.g., 30% deposit, 70% upon presentation of the Bill of Lading) and ask for volume-based rebates if your annual demand exceeds 5-10 tons.

Since HAp is a fine powder, it is sensitive to cross-contamination. Specify that the cargo must be palletized and shrink-wrapped to prevent bag breakage. For high-purity medical grades, consider air freight to minimize transit time and environmental exposure, ensuring the supplier provides a Non-Hazardous Goods Declaration to facilitate smooth airline handling.

Utilize the Secured Trading services offered by Made-in-China.com to protect your funds. Prioritize Audited Suppliers who have undergone on-site inspections by third-party agencies like SGS or Bureau Veritas. Review the supplier's export history to confirm experience in shipping to your specific region (e.g., North America or EU).
