Horsetail manufacturers

When sourcing Horsetail, the most critical factor is the Silica content, which should typically range between 7% to 10% for high-quality extracts. For dried herbs, ensure the product is free from Equisetum palustre, a toxic relative containing palustrine. You should request a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) to verify the absence of heavy metals (Lead, Arsenic, Mercury) and microbial contaminants like E. coli and Salmonella.

For the US market, suppliers must be FDA registered and comply with cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices). For the EU, the product must adhere to EFSA regulations and REACH standards. If the Horsetail is intended for organic lines, verify USDA Organic or EU Organic certifications. Always ensure the supplier provides a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for shipping and handling.

Request HPTLC (High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography) testing results to ensure botanical identity and rule out adulteration. For bulk powder, check the mesh size (typically 80-100 mesh for supplements) to ensure solubility and processing compatibility. Loss on Drying (LOD) should be kept below 5% to prevent mold growth during long-term storage and transit.

Horsetail is sensitive to moisture and light. Use double-layered food-grade PE bags inside vacuum-sealed aluminum foil bags for extracts. For bulk dried cut herb, moisture-proof woven bags or fiber drums are preferred. Ensure the inclusion of desiccants and that the outer packaging is UV-resistant to prevent the degradation of active silicates and flavonoids.

The biggest risk is species substitution or the presence of pesticide residues. To mitigate this, only work with audited suppliers on Made-in-China.com who hold ISO 22000 or HACCP certifications. Always start with a pre-shipment sample and use third-party inspection services (like SGS or Intertek) to test the actual batch before final payment.

Prices for Horsetail fluctuate based on the extraction ratio (e.g., 4:1, 10:1) and silica concentration. Negotiate a tiered pricing structure where the unit price drops by 15-20% for orders exceeding 500kg. For new buyers, request a low MOQ (e.g., 1kg - 5kg) for the first trial order to test market response and product stability before committing to metric tons.

Utilize Secured Trading Services provided by platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure your payment is only released after you confirm receipt of goods. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts. Ensure the Incoterms (e.g., FOB or CIF) are clearly defined in the Proforma Invoice to avoid hidden costs related to port handling and customs clearance fees.

For high-value extracts under 100kg, Air Express (DHL/FedEx) is recommended for speed and climate control. For bulk raw herbs over 500kg, Sea Freight (LCL) is more economical. Ensure the supplier provides a Phytosanitary Certificate, as this is a mandatory requirement for customs clearance of plant-based products in most countries.
