Glass painting manufacturers

When selecting glass paintings, the type of glass is paramount; tempered glass (safety glass) is highly recommended as it is 4-5 times stronger than standard glass and shatters into small, blunt pieces if broken. For the artwork itself, prioritize UV-curable ink printing or high-temperature silk-screen printing, as these methods ensure colorfastness and resistance to fading under sunlight. Additionally, verify the glass thickness, typically ranging from 4mm to 6mm for wall decor, to balance weight and structural integrity.

Buyers should require suppliers to provide SGCC (Safety Glazing Certification Council) or CE EN12150 certification for tempered glass. For the paints and inks used, ensure compliance with REACH or RoHS standards to guarantee the absence of heavy metals like lead or cadmium. It is also advisable to request a fragmentation test report to confirm the glass meets safety breakage patterns required for public space installations.

For high-humidity environments like bathrooms or spas, ensure the painting has a moisture-proof backing or that the ink is sealed between glass layers (laminated) to prevent peeling. For hospitality or public areas, specify polished C-edges or beveled edges to prevent injury during handling. If the product is intended for modern office interiors, look for frameless mounting systems or stainless steel standoffs that complement a minimalist aesthetic.

A top-tier supplier should support high-resolution file formats (AI, PSD, or TIFF at 300 DPI) to ensure print clarity. They should offer variable transparency levels, allowing for frosted or translucent effects. Furthermore, check if they provide CNC precision cutting for custom shapes and back-lighting compatibility if the paintings are to be used in light-box displays.

Fragility is the primary risk. Insist on Five-Layer Corrugated Cardboard boxes with EPE foam corner protectors and vacuum-sealed plastic wrapping. For bulk shipments, fumigated wooden crates or plywood pallets are mandatory. You should also negotiate for a breakage allowance (e.g., 1-3% replacement guarantee) and ensure the Incoterms used include comprehensive cargo insurance.

Focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Ask for tiered pricing based on volume (e.g., 100 vs. 500 units) and inquire about mold fees for custom sizes. To verify reliability, prioritize Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have undergone third-party onsite inspections by SGS or TÜV Rheinland. Request a pre-shipment video inspection of the actual batch to confirm color accuracy.

Always use Secured Payment services provided by the platform to ensure funds are only released after proof of shipment. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts. For large orders, consider a 30% deposit and 70% balance payment against the Bill of Lading (B/L). Additionally, hire a third-party inspection agency to perform a 'During Production Check' (DUPRO) to catch printing defects before the glass is tempered, as it cannot be altered afterward.

Glass is heavy and fragile, making Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) the most economical choice. Ensure the supplier provides an accurate HS Code (typically 7013 or 9701) to determine import duties. Be aware of anti-dumping duties that some regions (like the EU or USA) may impose on specific Chinese glass products; always consult with a local customs broker to verify the latest trade policy alignments before finalizing the contract.
