Frosted glass manufacturers

Frosted glass is primarily produced via acid etching or sandblasting. Acid-etched glass offers a smoother, more consistent finish that is resistant to fingerprints, making it ideal for interior partitions and furniture. Sandblasting allows for greater depth and custom patterns, but the surface is more porous and may require a protective coating to prevent staining in high-touch areas.

For construction and architectural use, ensure the glass meets tempered safety standards such as ANSI Z97.1 (USA), EN 12150 (EU), or AS/NZS 2208. If the glass is intended for high-moisture areas like bathrooms, verify that the frosting process has not compromised the structural integrity or thermal shock resistance of the pane.

Buyers should request the Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) percentage. High-quality frosted glass typically maintains 70-85% light transmission while providing privacy. You should ask for opacity samples to test the 'blur effect' at different distances to ensure it meets the specific privacy requirements of your project, such as office meeting rooms or hospital clinics.

Key specs include thickness tolerance (typically ±0.2mm), edge polishing quality (flat edge, pencil edge, or beveled), and iron content (low-iron glass prevents the green tint common in standard clear glass). For large-scale projects, specify the hole drilling precision and corner radius to ensure compatibility with hardware fittings.

Glass is highly fragile; therefore, you must mandate professional export packaging. This includes seaworthy plywood crates with interleaving powder or paper between sheets to prevent scratches and suction. Ensure the supplier uses steel banding and shock-absorbent materials within the container. It is highly recommended to use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading Service to protect your payment until the goods arrive intact.

Focus on the yield rate and defect allowance. Negotiate a clear Quality Acceptance (AQL) standard regarding bubbles, scratches, or uneven frosting. For large orders, request tiered pricing based on container loads (FCL) rather than LCL, as FCL significantly reduces the risk of handling damage and lowers unit shipping costs.

Verify the supplier's tempering furnace capabilities and automatic frosting lines. A professional manufacturer should provide fragmentation test reports (showing the glass breaks into small, blunt pieces) and stress pattern analysis. Check if they have ISO 9001 certification to ensure consistent batch quality across large orders.

Be aware of anti-dumping duties that some countries impose on Chinese glass products; always check your local customs tariff code (HS Code, typically 7007.19 or 7007.29). For shipping, FOB (Free On Board) is often preferred for experienced buyers to control freight costs, but ensure your marine insurance covers 'All Risks' including breakage.
