Celery powder manufacturers

When sourcing celery powder, the primary focus should be on the production process (Air-dried vs. Freeze-dried). Freeze-dried powder typically retains higher nutritional value and a more vibrant green color, whereas air-dried is more cost-effective. Ensure the product is 100% pure with no added maltodextrin, artificial colors, or preservatives. Request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch to verify moisture content (should be <5%), mesh size (fineness), and microbial limits.

As a food ingredient, compliance is non-negotiable. Suppliers must provide ISO 22000 or HACCP certifications to prove food safety management. For entry into the US market, FDA registration is required; for the EU, adherence to EC No 396/2005 regarding pesticide residues is critical. If your brand targets health-conscious consumers, prioritize suppliers with USDA Organic, EU Organic, or Kosher/Halal certifications.

The application dictates the spec: For Natural Nitrite replacement in meat processing, the powder must have a standardized nitrate content. For Nutraceuticals/Supplements, high solubility and Apigenin content (a key flavonoid) are vital. For Culinary/Seasoning use, focus on aroma profile and particle size (usually 80-100 mesh) to ensure even blending in dry mixes.

Celery powder is highly hygroscopic (absorbs moisture) and sensitive to light. Ensure the supplier uses vacuum-sealed aluminum foil bags inside fiber drums for bulk packaging. The standard shelf life should be 24 months when stored in a cool, dry place. Ask the supplier for stability testing data to confirm the powder won't clump or lose color during long-term sea freight.

The biggest risks are adulteration (mixing with cheaper fillers) and pesticide residue non-compliance. To mitigate this, use third-party inspection services (like SGS or Intertek) to pull samples directly from the factory before final payment. Always conduct transactions through secure payment channels on Made-in-China.com to ensure trade assurance and dispute resolution.

Don't just negotiate on unit price; negotiate on active ingredient concentration and shipping terms. For orders exceeding 500kg, aim for a 10-15% discount compared to sample pricing. Request tiered pricing based on annual volume commitments rather than one-off orders to secure long-term price stability against seasonal crop fluctuations.

Since it is a food-grade powder, it must be shipped in clean, dry containers away from strong-smelling chemicals to prevent cross-contamination. Ensure the HS Code (typically 0712.90) is correctly declared to avoid customs delays. For large sea freight shipments, use desiccant silica gel packs inside the container to manage humidity levels during transit through different climate zones.

Check if the supplier is a 'Diamond Member' or 'Audited Supplier' on Made-in-China.com, which indicates they have undergone rigorous on-site verification. Review their export history to see if they have experience with your specific country's customs regulations. Request a factory video tour or a live stream of the production line to confirm their manufacturing capacity and hygiene standards.
