2 seat mobility scooter manufacturers

When sourcing a 2-seat mobility scooter, prioritize motor power (typically 500W to 1000W) to ensure it can handle the weight of two passengers. The weight capacity should be at least 200kg (440 lbs). Additionally, check the battery type and range; lithium batteries offer longer lifespans and faster charging compared to lead-acid. Ensure the ground clearance is sufficient for the intended terrain to prevent undercarriage damage.

For the US market, ensure the product is FDA cleared as a medical device and meets ANSI/RESNA standards. For the EU, CE marking is mandatory, and compliance with EN 12184 (electrically powered wheelchairs and scooters) is essential. Always verify UN38.3 certification for the lithium batteries to ensure they are legal and safe for international shipping.

Safety is paramount for multi-passenger vehicles. Look for electromagnetic braking systems that engage automatically when the throttle is released. The scooter should feature anti-tip wheels, a comprehensive lighting system (LED headlights, turn signals, and brake lights), and adjustable speed governors. For 2-seat models, a reinforced chassis and independent suspension are critical for maintaining stability during turns.

To differentiate your offering, inquire about OEM/ODM services such as custom branding (logo placement), color variations, and upgraded seating materials (e.g., high-density memory foam). You may also request weather protection accessories like hard-top canopies or rain covers, and storage modifications like rear baskets or under-seat compartments.

The biggest risks include battery safety failures and shipping damage. Mitigate these by requesting Pre-Shipment Inspections (PSI) through third-party agencies like SGS or Intertek. Ensure the supplier uses 7-layer corrugated cardboard and internal steel framing for packaging to protect the scooter's plastic fairings and electronic components during sea freight.

Start by requesting a sample unit to verify quality before committing to a bulk order. For volume orders, aim for a 15-25% discount off the sample price. If the Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) is too high, suggest a trial order of a partial container (LCL) to test your local market. Always use Secured Trading Services on Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until the goods are dispatched.

Due to the size and weight, Sea Freight (FCL or LCL) is the only economically viable option for bulk orders. If the scooters contain lithium batteries, they are classified as Class 9 Dangerous Goods, requiring specific documentation (MSDS). Work with a freight forwarder experienced in battery-operated vehicles to navigate customs clearance and ensure the 'Door-to-Door' or 'CIF' terms are clearly defined.

Prioritize Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have been active for at least 5 years. Negotiate a warranty period of 12-24 months on core components (motor, controller, battery). Demand a 1-2% spare parts kit (fuses, tires, bulbs) to be included free of charge with bulk orders to handle minor repairs locally without returning units to the factory.
