Wholesale keshi pearls manufacturers

When evaluating Keshi pearls, focus on Luster, Nacre Thickness, and Surface Quality. Since Keshi pearls are non-nucleated, they consist of 100% solid nacre, giving them an extraordinary, deep glow. Look for a high-metallic luster that reflects light sharply. While their organic, baroque shapes are natural, ensure the surface is free of chalky patches or deep pits that could compromise the structural integrity of the jewelry piece.

Freshwater Keshi pearls are generally smaller and more affordable, making them ideal for mass-market fashion jewelry. In contrast, South Sea Keshi pearls (Saltwater) are rarer, larger, and possess a more intense luster, targeting the high-end luxury segment. Always verify the origin (Saltwater vs. Freshwater) with the supplier, as this significantly impacts the price per gram or per strand.

Specify the hole size (typically 0.5mm to 0.8mm) to ensure compatibility with your threading wire or pins. For wholesale orders, clarify if you are buying loose pearls (by weight/carat) or temporary strands (usually 14-16 inches). Because Keshi pearls are irregular, request a size range (e.g., 8mm-10mm) rather than a single uniform measurement to manage production expectations.

Ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Authenticity or a GIA/NGTC lab report for high-value batches to prove they are natural cultured pearls and not imitation. For international trade, verify that the packaging meets ISPM 15 standards if wooden crates are used, though most pearls are shipped in vacuum-sealed plastic or silk pouches to prevent abrasion during transit.

Request pre-shipment samples and use third-party inspection services like V-Trust or SGS. Specifically, ask the supplier to disclose any treatments such as dyeing or irradiation. On platforms like Made-in-China.com, prioritize Audited Suppliers who have undergone rigorous on-site verification of their manufacturing capabilities and business legitimacy.

Pearl pricing is highly fluid based on harvest cycles. Negotiate based on volume tiers; for example, a 15-20% discount is common for orders exceeding 5kg. If you are a new buyer, propose a lower MOQ for a trial order to test the quality, but agree to a higher price point that converts to a discount upon your first full-scale bulk purchase.

Always use express couriers with robust tracking (DHL, FedEx, or UPS) and insist on Full Value Insurance. Ensure the commercial invoice clearly states 'Cultured Pearls' and the correct HS Code (710121 or 710122) to avoid customs delays. For high-value shipments, use Escrow payment services to ensure funds are only released once the goods are inspected and accepted.

Check the Import Duty rates in your specific country; for instance, the US and EU have specific tariffs on worked vs. unworked pearls. Factor in VAT/GST and potential customs brokerage fees. To optimize costs, ask your supplier to provide a Certificate of Origin, which may qualify the shipment for preferential tariff treatment under various Free Trade Agreements.
