Monopotassium phosphate fertilizer mkp manufacturers

When sourcing MKP, ensure the P2O5 (Phosphorus Pentoxide) content is ≥52% and the K2O (Potassium Oxide) content is ≥34%. The product should be a fully water-soluble white crystal with a solubility of approximately 226g/L at 20°C. For drip irrigation and hydroponics, the insoluble matter must be <0.1% to prevent clogging, and the pH value should range between 4.3 and 4.7 in a 1% aqueous solution.

Request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch. It is critical to check for heavy metal limits (such as Lead, Arsenic, and Cadmium) to ensure compliance with local environmental regulations. For high-end applications, prioritize food-grade or tech-grade MKP over industrial grade if your target market has strict soil safety standards. Look for suppliers on Made-in-China.com who provide third-party inspection reports from SGS or Intertek.

MKP is a chlorine-free fertilizer with a very low salt index, making it ideal for foliar spraying, fertigation, and hydroponics. It is primarily used to promote root growth, enhance flowering, and improve fruit sugar content and color. Because it contains no nitrogen, it allows for flexible nitrogen management during the late growth stages of crops like grapes, citrus, and tomatoes.

Standard packaging is usually 25kg or 50kg PP/PE bags with an inner plastic liner to prevent moisture absorption. For bulk buyers, 1000kg jumbo bags are more cost-effective. Ensure the supplier uses UV-stabilized bags if the product will be stored in outdoor warehouses, and always confirm that the pallets are fumigated (ISPM 15 standard) for cross-border transit.

The biggest risk is moisture caking, which renders the crystal difficult to dissolve. Always specify moisture content <0.2% in the contract. Another risk is regulatory non-compliance; some countries require specific fertilizer registration certificates. Ensure your supplier on Made-in-China.com is experienced with the GHS (Globally Harmonized System) for labeling and provides a valid MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet).

Focus on volume-based pricing tiers. MKP prices are sensitive to the cost of phosphoric acid and potassium hydroxide. Negotiate a formula-based pricing model if you are signing a long-term contract. Additionally, ask for OEM packaging (custom branding) which is often provided for free or at a low cost for orders exceeding 20-25 metric tons (one 20ft container).

Use Trade Assurance or Letter of Credit (L/C) for large first-time orders to mitigate financial risk. Regarding logistics, MKP is generally classified as non-hazardous for sea freight, but you should still confirm the HS Code (usually 2835240000) with your customs broker to determine exact import duties. For shipping to remote agricultural hubs, choose FOB terms if you have a reliable freight forwarder, or CIF if you want the supplier to handle the insurance and transit to your port.
