Honda airbag cover manufacturers

The cover must be manufactured using high-quality ABS or PC/ABS plastic to ensure it does not shatter upon deployment. It is critical that the material features a pre-weakened tear seam (laser-scored) that matches the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications, allowing the airbag to deploy in milliseconds without obstruction.

Buyers should verify the OEM Part Number (e.g., 78511-T5R-A91ZB) and request 3D fitment test reports. Since Honda steering wheel designs vary significantly between the Civic, Accord, and CR-V across different generations, you must confirm the mounting clip architecture and the presence of the H-logo indentation to ensure a seamless aesthetic and functional fit.

Ensure the supplier adheres to IATF 16949:2016, which is the international standard for automotive quality management systems. Additionally, products should undergo flammability testing (FMVSS 302) and low-temperature impact testing to ensure the plastic does not become brittle and dangerous in cold climates.

A repair cover is a cosmetic plastic shell used to restore the steering wheel's appearance after a deployment or due to wear; it does not include the airbag inflator or nylon bag. B2B buyers must clearly state in their listings that these are non-functional decorative components unless they are sourcing full SRS assemblies, which require much stricter hazardous material certifications.

The biggest risk is material brittleness, where sub-standard plastic turns into shrapnel during an accident. To mitigate this, use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services and insist on third-party lab testing (SGS or TUV) for polymer composition. Another risk is intellectual property (IP) infringement regarding the Honda logo; ensure the supplier has the right to produce these or that the logo is packaged separately if required by local customs.

For Honda airbag covers, typical MOQs range from 50 to 100 pieces. You can negotiate a 10-15% discount by committing to a 'mixed-model' container (e.g., combining Civic and Accord covers). Always request Gold Medal Suppliers on Made-in-China.com who offer OEM/ODM customization for texture and color matching to ensure the black or grey plastic matches the original dashboard.

Since these are plastic shells, they are classified under HS Code 8708.99 (Parts and accessories of motor vehicles). They are lightweight but fragile; ensure the supplier uses individual bubble-wrap packaging and reinforced 5-layer corrugated master cartons. For shipping to the US or Europe, verify if Anti-Dumping Duties apply to specific plastic automotive components from the origin country.

Request a factory audit video or a live stream via Made-in-China.com to inspect their injection molding machines and mold library. A reliable supplier should be able to provide material safety data sheets (MSDS) and have a history of exporting to Tier-2 automotive aftermarket distributors.
