The biggest risks include damage during transit and non-compliance with local safety regulations. Due to the weight and size, improper seafastening can lead to structural deformation. Always use professional third-party inspectors (like SGS or TÜV) to conduct a pre-shipment inspection. Ensure the supplier uses seaworthy packaging, including moisture-proof barriers and heavy-duty steel cradles.

For high-value industrial goods, avoid 100% upfront payments. A standard B2B structure is 30% deposit, 60% after successful FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and NDT report verification, and 10% as a retention bond or upon arrival. Require the supplier to provide a comprehensive O&M (Operation and Maintenance) Manual in English and a two-year spare parts kit (including gaskets and specialized bolts). Confirm if the supplier can provide remote technical support or if they have local service partners for emergency tube plugging or retubing services.
