Dl methionine feed grade 99 manufacturers

Buyers must ensure the product contains a minimum purity of 99.0% DL-Methionine on a dry basis. Key parameters include moisture content (max 0.5%), ash content (max 0.5%), and heavy metal limits (Lead ≤ 10ppm, Arsenic ≤ 2ppm). The product should appear as white or light grey crystalline powder with a characteristic odor. Always request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch to verify these chemical properties.

For global trade, suppliers should ideally hold FAMI-QS (Feed Additive and Pre-Mixture Quality System) or ISO 22000/HACCP certifications. If exporting to the EU, compliance with EFSA regulations is required; for the US, ensure the facility is FDA registered and follows FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) guidelines. Non-GMO statements and BSE/TSE-free certificates are also frequently requested by customs.

As an essential amino acid, DL-Methionine is the first limiting amino acid in poultry and the second in pigs. It is primarily used to improve feed conversion ratios (FCR), promote growth, and enhance feather development. In ruminants, it may require rumen-protected technology to ensure bypass efficiency. Proper homogeneity in mixing is critical, so check the particle size distribution to ensure it blends well with other feed ingredients.

DL-Methionine is stable but should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. The standard shelf life is 5 years from the date of manufacture if kept in original, unopened packaging (usually 25kg bags or 500-1000kg big bags). Ensure the supplier uses PE-lined multi-layer paper bags to prevent moisture absorption and caking during long-term sea transit.

Utilize third-party inspection services such as SGS or Intertek to perform pre-shipment sampling and testing. Ensure the contract specifies that payment is contingent upon the inspection report matching the agreed-upon 99% purity specification. For secure transactions, consider using secured payment services on Made-in-China.com to protect your capital until shipping documents are verified.

DL-Methionine prices are highly sensitive to raw material costs (like hydrogen cyanide and methyl mercaptan) and global oil prices. Negotiate based on volume tiers (e.g., 20ft FCL vs. LCL) and ask for formula-based pricing if establishing a long-term contract. Suppliers often offer a 3-5% discount for 100% T/T in advance, but for new suppliers, a 30% deposit and 70% against B/L copy is a safer middle ground.

Ensure the supplier provides a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for shipping, even though DL-Methionine is generally classified as non-hazardous for transport. Request palletized loading with shrink-wrap to prevent bag breakage during container handling. For humid destinations, include desiccants in the container to maintain the powder's free-flowing properties.

Check for anti-dumping duties that may apply to specific manufacturing countries (e.g., certain EU-China or US-China trade barriers). Verify the HS Code (typically 293040) to determine the exact import tariffs in your country. Always confirm if your country requires a Veterinary Import Permit or specific Sanitary Certificates before the vessel departs.
