Chinese green tea price manufacturers

The price is primarily driven by harvest season (Pre-Ming vs. Post-Rain), geographical origin (Terroir), and processing grade. Pre-Ming tea (harvested before April 5th) is the most expensive due to its tender buds and limited supply. Additionally, teas from core protected regions like West Lake (Longjing) or Huangshan (Maofeng) command a significant premium over generic mountain teas.

Processing methods such as pan-firing (roasted), steaming, or sun-drying impact the labor cost. Hand-made artisanal teas involve intensive manual labor, significantly increasing the price compared to machine-processed leaves. Buyers should look for uniformity in leaf shape and vibrancy of color as indicators of high-quality processing.

Compliance is critical for food safety. Ensure the supplier provides Pesticide Residue Test Reports that meet your country's standards (e.g., EU MRLs or US FDA regulations). Key certifications to look for include ISO 22000 (Food Safety Management), HACCP, and for premium markets, Organic Certifications (USDA, EOS, or JAS).

Green tea is non-fermented and highly perishable. Buyers should confirm the production date and ensure the tea is stored in cold storage (0-5°C) at the source. For bulk shipping, vacuum-sealed aluminum foil packaging with oxygen absorbers is essential to maintain the catechin levels and prevent oxidation during transit.

Request Geographical Indication (GI) tags and traceability codes for famous teas like Longjing or Biluochun. Conduct a sample evaluation before bulk payment and consider using third-party inspection services (like SGS or CCIC) to verify that the bulk shipment matches the approved sample in terms of aroma, taste, and leaf appearance.

Focus on long-term volume commitments rather than one-off purchases. Suppliers on Made-in-China.com are often willing to offer 10-20% discounts for annual contracts. Additionally, negotiate based on Incoterms (FOB vs. CIF); for tea, FOB is often preferred if you have a reliable freight forwarder who understands temperature-controlled logistics.

Avoid shipping tea in the same container as strong-smelling goods (like spices or chemicals) because tea leaves are highly absorbent. For high-value orders, use Reefer Containers (Refrigerated) or Air Freight to minimize exposure to high temperatures and humidity, which can turn the tea stale and yellow within weeks.

Utilize the Secured Trading services provided by Made-in-China.com to protect your payment. Always verify the supplier's Business License and Export Permit for Foodstuffs. Avoid paying via untraceable methods; instead, use L/C (Letter of Credit) for large volumes or T/T (Telegraphic Transfer) with a clear deposit and balance structure linked to bill of lading (B/L) release.
