Aluminium can price manufacturers

Buyers must focus on alloy composition, typically 3004 or 3104 aluminium for the body and 5182 for the ends to ensure structural integrity. Key metrics include internal pressure resistance (minimum 90 PSI), axial load strength, and coating thickness (measured in mg/in²). Ensure the BPA-NI (BPA Non-Intent) internal lacquer is used if targeting health-conscious markets or complying with strict food safety regulations.

For international trade, products must meet FDA (US) or EC 1935/2004 (EU) standards for food contact materials. It is essential to verify ISO 9001 for manufacturing consistency and FSSC 22000 for food safety management. If shipping to the US, ensure compliance with CFR Title 21 regarding resinous and polymeric coatings.

The price is primarily driven by the LME (London Metal Exchange) aluminium ingot price, which fluctuates daily. Other variables include can size (e.g., 330ml, 355ml, 500ml), printing complexity (number of colors), and order volume. High-volume orders (e.g., >500,000 units) typically see a 10-15% reduction in unit cost compared to minimum MOQs due to production efficiency.

Aluminium cans are widely used for carbonated soft drinks, craft beer, energy drinks, and sparkling water. Customization options include matte or glossy finishes, thermochromic inks (color-changing with temperature), and embossing. For craft brands, shrink-sleeve labeling offers a lower MOQ alternative to direct-to-can printing.

The biggest risk is physical deformation during transit due to the thin-walled nature of the product. Buyers should mandate heavy-duty palletization with top-frames and plastic strapping. Another risk is supply chain volatility; it is recommended to use fixed-price contracts or hedging strategies to mitigate sudden spikes in raw aluminium costs.

Focus on Total Landed Cost rather than just the EXW price. Negotiate for free printing plate sets for long-term contracts and request third-party SGS or Intertek inspections before final payment. Ask for a 0.5% - 1% breakage allowance or extra units to cover potential shipping damages.

Empty cans are 'high-volume, low-weight' cargo. To optimize shipping costs, use 40HQ containers and ensure the supplier uses automated palletizing to maximize space. Verify that the shipping line provides food-grade containers to prevent odor contamination or moisture damage (white rust) during sea freight.
